Bravecto contains fluralaner, a systemic insecticide and acaricide with a long duration of action that provides immediate and persistent tick (adult and juvenile) Haemaphysalis longicornis (NZ Cattle Tick) and flea (Ctenocephalides felis) killing activity for 3 months.
Controlled trials indicate that directly after treatment, Bravecto kills 96.8% of existing ticks on the dog within 8 hours and 100% within 12 hours. At 3 months after treatment, around 97.1% of new ticks are killed within 12 hours.
Directly after treatment, Bravecto kills 99% of fleas on the dog within 8 hours and 100% within 12 hours. At 3 months after treatment, 95.7% of new fleas are killed within 8 hours.
The flea lifecycle is broken due to the rapid onset of action and the long-lasting efficacy against adult fleas on the animal and the absence of viable egg production. Bravecto reduces the flea challenge experienced by the animal and aids in the treatment strategy for flea allergy dermatitis.
